Britney Spears was held at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Saturday after she had a stand off with police while refusing to hand her sons back over to Kevin Federline, the boys’ father.
While at the hospital, Spears was visited by television personality, Dr. Phil McGraw. He then appeared on entertainment shows making public statements about Spears and her need for therapy.
The Spears family spokesperson, Lou Taylor, voiced the family’s outrage at the actions of McGraw. She says, “What’s wrong with Dr. Phil’s statement is that he made a statement. The family, basically, extended an invitation of trust for him to come in as a resource to support them, not to go out and make public statements. He was not invited to make this part of a public display or allotment of the media.”
McGraw stated that he has had an ongoing relationship with Lynne Spears and was planning to dedicate an episode of his show “Dr. Phil” to her daughter’s ongoing troubles.
But Spears family spokesman Lou Taylor said that the family had never had plans to do a show with McGraw, accusing the doctor of being “self-serving.”
Lou Taylor further blasts McGraw by adding that Lynne and Jamie Spears “were looking for relieve here, not to add to the trouble that is already upon them.”
