Whether you’ve been married for years, dating, or looking to have a memorable first date, every couple needs a break from the traditional dinner and a movie. Here are a few unique and inexpensive date ideas for any couple.

Go to a game – This one’s easy. Choose a sport you have in common or one that’s new to you both. Baseball is a good choice because it is slow enough to allow for great conversation, casual (hot dogs for dinner!) and the tickets can be surprisingly cheap. Most professional teams have tickets for less than $15. If you are far from any pro leagues, try a farm league. Tickets are even cheaper and usually easy to reach by on short notice.

Go to a lake or park – Now this one is cheap and romantic. Go to a park an hour or two before sunset and have a picnic dinner. Afterwards fish, feed ducks, or go for a nighttime swim. Being in an outdoor environment opens up for conversation because of increased stimulus. The more going on around you, the more there is to blueprint from. TIP: Bring bug spray or repellent candles. Nothing kills the mood more swatting knats all night.

Make each other dinner – Add a personal twist to a traditional date. Before getting together get your date your favorite meal as a kid and have them do the same. When you do meet up, you will have plenty to talk about from childhood stories to favorite restaurants. It is a great way to get to know someone or just revive a boring meal.

Have your absorb Personal Drive-In – Although this will take a petite extra peril it will make for unique date neither of you will forget. Rent a projector from a local or college library. Many libraries allow for 24 hour rentals. Grab a few extension cords and hook it up to VCR/DVD player outside. Face it against the side of your house or garage. Rent a few movies, make some popcorn, lie out blankets, and have a great time cuddling under the stars.

Allotment something you love – Have a date all about you. Choose something you love like football or jazz and teach your date about it. Throw a football together or play a few songs on your piano. Have your date do the same. This will not only give you the opportunity to learn more about each other but to show off and look good in front of your date which is always a plus.
