Going on a first date is always nerve-racking. I have a few ideas for a first date if you live in or near Fort Worth, Texas that might succor ease your nervousness. These three first date ideas are in relaxed and fun atmospheres.

Fort Worth Zoo

We all know how fun it is when we let our inner child run free, so why not take your date to the zoo? The zoo is a good place for a first date because it’s a relaxed atmosphere. The Fort Worth Zoo is relatively popular in the DFW area and has a nice variety of animals and attractions. It’s located off of I-30 in Fort Wort. Another benefit of the Fort Worth Zoo is that it’s open 365 days a year so you don’t have to worry about them being closed on the day you want to go. Their hours vary depending on the time of year you go, so it’s best to double check their website for the day you want to go. Another reason the zoo is a satisfactory option for a first date is the fact that it’s relatively inexpensive. General admission is $12 a person and on Wednesdays it’s half tag. Parking is $5 and they only net cash. You are allowed to bring in your own cooler, but it’s “discouraged”. For more information about the Fort Worth Zoo click here.

Fort Worth Stockyards

The Fort Worth Stockyards are another great place to go on a first date because there are so many things you can do there. You can go shopping, dancing, or go somewhere to eat. It’s also a great place to walk around on a pleasing summer night. Depending on when you go, you can also go to a rodeo. The Fort Worth Stockyards are located off of East Exchange Avenue in Fort Worth. The tall thing about the stockyards is that you can go there on any budget. You can employ as little or as much money there as you want. Parking usually ranges from $5 to $10. Click here for the Fort Worth Stockyards’ website. The website lists the history of the stockyards, attractions, entertainment, shopping, dining, lodging, and events. Another fun thing you can do at the stockyards is ride the train from Grapevine to the stockyards. Information for the train can be found by clicking here and here and at . Tickets for the train are $20 per person round trip from Grapevine to the Stockyards. The Fort Worth Stockyards are gigantic for a first date because of the relaxed atmosphere and the flexibility of activities once you get there.

Kimbell Art Museum

I know what some of you are thinking, who goes to an art museum on a first date? Well, I happen to think that it’s a rather romantic first date conception, but you do have to make definite the person you’re taking is the type of person who would enjoy going to an art museum. The Kimbell Art Museum is located near the Fort Worth Stockyards off of Camp Bowie Boulevard. A major plus about the Kimbell Art Museum is that it’s free. If you want to go to their special exhibits there is a charge, but it’s half-priced on Tuesdays all day and on Fridays from 5-8 pm. The museum offers free parking. The Kimbell Art Museum is a nice place for a first date because you can move through the museum at your own pace and the pieces of art provide good conversation starters if needed. Museum hours and information can be found by clicking here.

I hope your first date leads to many more!
